Learners from Crackington Class at Highgate Hill House School recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to The Pearl Exchange, where they learned more about the valuable support, services and opportunities the organisation provides within the local community.
The visit formed part of the class’s Business Studies project and encouraged learners to think about enterprise, teamwork and community engagement. Inspired by what they had learned during the visit, learners decided to organise and run a hot chocolate stand to raise money for The Pearl Exchange.
Over the course of two days, learners sold hot chocolate during lunchtime and at the school Talent Show, working together to plan, prepare and manage the fundraiser. Thanks to the support of staff, learners and the wider school community, Crackington Class successfully raised an impressive £100 for the charity.
The project provided learners with valuable opportunities to develop communication, teamwork and business skills while also promoting social responsibility and community awareness.
Kerry Taylor, Principal of Highgate Hill House School, said:
“We are incredibly proud of Crackington Class for the enthusiasm, teamwork and kindness they demonstrated throughout this project. The learners fully embraced the opportunity to support a local organisation while developing important business and social skills. Experiences such as this help build confidence, independence and a strong sense of community.”
The school praised the learners for their hard work, generosity and positive attitude throughout the fundraising initiative, which proved to be a fantastic success for everyone involved.
