We are now closed for the Easter holidays and will re-open on Tuesday 14th April. To discuss provision during the school holidays, please contact your 0-25 team on 01392 383000 (Devon) or 01872 323535 (Cornwall).
We will continue to follow the latest Coronavirus (Covid-19) advice and guidance to minimise the risk of spreading any potential virus to keep all pupils and staff as safe as possible.
For parents and carers who are choosing to keep their children at home, our Online Learning Portal is now live with lessons, activities, games and ideas designed by the school staff. We are only a phone call away if you need help and support during this challenging time.
Due to the rapidly changing nature of the current epidemic, all of our parents and carers are advised to keep a close eye on the government's latest guidance at www.gov.uk/coronavirus and we will of course keep you updated as the situation progresses.
Children at the heart of all decision making.
I am delighted and privileged to be the founding Head Teacher of Highgate Hill House School. This school was created specifically to provide a unique and enjoyable learning experience for young people aged 5 – 16 years with additional needs.
Highgate Hill House School
We are an independent co-educational day school for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), aged 5 to 16 years with social, emotional and mental health needs, including Autism.
Situated on the Devon and Cornwall border at Whitstone, near Holsworthy, the majority of our children are full-time and have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). Our school is a learning community for staff and pupils, where everyone feels welcome, included and respected. We believe that everyone has the right to be free from prejudice and discrimination.
Children develop and learn in different ways, and we have created a school which is flexible and can adapt to pupil's needs. We opened to provide part-time intervention places in January 2017, opened for full-time pupils in July 2017, and received an Ofsted 'good' rating for our first inspection which took place in October 2017.
Our school has been shortlisted for three national awards, including 'New Market Entrant' and 'Education Business of the Year' at the 2018 Education Investor Awards and 'Special Needs Initiative' at the TES Independent School Awards 2019.
