This half term, Year 10 and 11 learners from Highgate Hill House School took important steps towards their future by engaging in work experience at Hedley Wood Caravan Park, part of Park Holidays.
Each learner participated in a way that was meaningful and suited to their individual needs and abilities. For some, this involved completing five full days of hands-on work within chosen departments, supported by park staff. Others undertook a reduced number of days while still fulfilling key responsibilities. For a few learners, even beginning conversations about work experience, and being open to the idea for this year or next, represented a significant achievement.
These varied levels of participation highlighted personal growth, independence, resilience and maturity, with every learner making progress in their own unique way.
Principal Kerry Taylor said:
“We are incredibly proud of the way our learners approached their work experience at Hedley Wood Caravan Park. Whether they completed a full week, a few days, or simply took steps towards preparing for the future, each learner demonstrated determination and growth. It was wonderful to see them representing our school so positively and developing the skills they will carry with them beyond education.”
The school extends its thanks to the learners for their commitment, to parents and guardians for their encouragement, and to the dedicated Highgate staff who provided support while allowing learners to build independence.
A special thank you also goes to Beverley Sharp and the team at Hedley Wood Caravan Park, whose patience, flexibility and professionalism created such a welcoming and supportive environment. The school looks forward to building on this successful partnership in the future.
