Title: PA to Headteacher

Salary Details:  Dependent on experience     Hours: 35 hours per week, 41 weeks a year



Highgate Hill House School is a small independent, co-educational school with the aim of being the first-choice provider for young people aged 5-16 years with special educational needs in Devon and Cornwall. Our school received an Ofsted Good rating in 2017 and is located in a tranquil, countryside setting.

We are looking for a calm, efficient and organised PA who can provide confidential assistance to the Headteacher, plus Deputy Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team as required.

The role will involve, but will not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

  • acting as the main point of contact for the Headteacher, taking calls and messages where necessary;

  • acting as the liaison between the Headteacher and a variety of internal and external stakeholders;

  • managing all potential enquiries to the school and ensuring they are followed up appropriately;

  • a variety of diary management tasks, ensuring that the Headteacher is informed of and prepared appropriately for all calendar commitments and deadlines;

  • providing clerical and administrative support, plus drafting correspondence to a high standard;

  • arranging, sending out agendas and taking minutes at a variety of regulatory meetings and reviews;

  • managing the recruitment process, including the writing of and placing of adverts through to scheduling selection activities.


The successful candidate will be able to work well under pressure, and possess excellent organisational, planning and IT skills. A knowledge of multi-agency meetings, plus child protection and safeguarding procedures is a must, as is an ability to approach all confidential matters with the utmost discretion.  A working knowledge of GDPR compliance is required, as is the ability to build strong working relationships across professional and operational boundaries.
